Tauranga Bay in West Coast South Island is an exposed beach and point break that has quite consistent surf and can work at any time of the year. Offshore winds are from the east southeast with some shelter here from south winds. Able to handle light onshore wind Windswells and groundswells in equal measure and the best swell direction is from the west southwest. The beach breaks offer left-handers and there is also a left hand point break. Good surf at all stages of the tide. When the surf is up, it can get quite busy in the water. Submerged rocks are a hazard.
