Steamer Lane-Middle Peak in Santa Cruz is a reasonably exposed reef break that has very consistent surf and works all around the year. Offshore winds blow from the northeast with some shelter here from northwest winds. Clean groundswells prevail and the ideal swell angle is from the northwest. Reef breaks provide lefts and rights. Best around mid tide when the tide is rising. When the surf is up, crowds are likely Submerged rocks are a hazard.
