Swell from Hurricane Danielle is now arriving on the coast of NW Europe and for much of France, Britain and Ireland, it is meeting offshore winds. September conditions do not get much better than this. Swell height is around the 1m mark but the period, in the range 15-20 secs, means that exposed breaks are generally well overhead on the well-separated sets. Drop everything and get on it! Should last through the weekend, with the period getting shorter and the wave height growing.

St Laurent du Var in Cote D'Azur is a quite exposed river break that has dependable surf. Autumn and winter are the favoured times of year for waves. Ideal winds are from the southwest.
