Praia do Pinho in Santa Caterina is an exposed beach break that has quite reliable surf. Winter is the best time of year for surfing here. Offshore winds blow from the west southwest. Clean groundswells prevail and the best swell direction is from the east northeast. Waves at the beach are both lefts and rights. When the surf is up, it can get quite busy in the water. Beware of nudists.

FEATURE UPDATE: we now show red swell icons for 'open sea' swells that are travelling in an unfavourable direction for the surf break. In places, these swells may still wrap around coastlines and produce smaller waves at some breaks. They are also significant for windsurfers and other water users that tend to venture further off-shore.
