Portland in Far West Coast is a sheltered beach and point break that has pretty consitent surf. Winter is the best time of year for surfing here. The best wind direction is from the northwest. Most of the surf here comes from groundswells and the best swell direction is from the south. The beach breaks offer lefts and rights Best around mid tide when the tide is rising. Even when there are waves, it's not likley to be crowded. Beware of rips, rocks and sharks.
