Oilies in Illawarra is an exposed breakwater break that has fairly consistent surf. Winter is the favoured time of year for surfing here. Offshore winds are from the west and there is no shelter here from cross shore breezes. Waves just as likely from local windswells as from distant groundswells and the best swell direction is from the southeast. The breakwater breaks offer lefts and rights. It's sometimes crowded here. Take care of - Rocks - Man-made danger (buoys etc.) - Localism - Pollution - Sharks.
