The water temperature (11 °C / 53 °F) at Le Truc Vert is fairly cold. Surfers will need a quality steamer wetsuit, a neoprene hood, gloves and boots because it will be cloudy with an effective air temperature of (5 °C / 41 °F).

Le Truc Vert water temperatures peak in the range 20 to 25°C (68 to 77°F) on around the 9th of August and are at their minimum on about the 29th of February, in the range 11 to 12°C (52 to 54°F). Le Truc Vert water temperatures are warmest in early to mid August. Surfers should use a 2mm long sleeve shorty or a 3/2mm spring wetsuit if the wind is up. At its minimum in late February, low water temperatures at Le Truc Vert are suited to a 5/4mm or 5/3mm good quality wetsuit with neoprene gloves and 3mm boots. You will need a hood if it's windy or the air is cold.

Actual sea surface water temperatures close to shore at Le Truc Vert can vary by several degrees compared with these open water averages. This is especially true after heavy rain, close to river mouths or after long periods of strong offshore winds. Offshore winds cause colder deep water to replace surface water that has been warmed by the sun. Air temperature, wind-chill and sunshine should also be considered before deciding on the kind of wetsuit needed to stay warm when surfing at Le Truc Vert.
