Lackan Bay in Achill Island and Mayo is a fairly exposed beach break that has pretty consitent surf and can work at any time of the year. Works best in offshore winds from the southwest with some shelter here from west winds. Waves just as likely from local windswells as from distant groundswells and the ideal swell direction is from the north northwest. Waves at the beach are both lefts and rights. Good surf at all stages of the tide. Rarely crowded here.
