La Piscina in Tarapaca is an exposed reef break that is usually a safe bet. Winter is the best time of year for surfing here. Works best in offshore winds from the east northeast. Tends to receive distant groundswells and the ideal swell direction is from the south southwest. A left hand reef break. Best around low tide when the tide is rising. It very rarely gets crowded here. Hazards include rocks and urchins.

They are also significant for windsurfers and other water users that tend to venture further off-shore.
