Kiama Pool on the South Coast is an exposed reef break that has quite reliable surf. Winter is the optimum time of year for surfing here. The best wind direction is from the southwest. Waves just as likely from local windswells as from distant groundswells and the best swell direction is from the east. There is a right hand reef break. Good surf at all stages of the tide. When the surf is up, it can get quite busy in the water. Beware of sharks, rips and rocks.

FEATURE UPDATE: we now show red swell icons for 'open sea' swells that are travelling in an unfavourable direction for the surf break. In places, these swells may still wrap around coastlines and produce smaller waves at some breaks. They are also significant for windsurfers and other water users that tend to venture further off-shore.
