Swell from Hurricane Danielle is now arriving on the coast of NW Europe and for much of France, Britain and Ireland, it is meeting offshore winds. September conditions do not get much better than this. Swell height is around the 1m mark but the period, in the range 15-20 secs, means that exposed breaks are generally well overhead on the well-separated sets. Drop everything and get on it! Should last through the weekend, with the period getting shorter and the wave height growing.

Florencia Bay in Vancouver Island is a fairly exposed beach break that has pretty consitent surf Offshore winds are from the northeast with some shelter here from north winds. Most of the surf here comes from groundswells and the ideal swell direction is from the west. The beach break offers both left and right hand waves. The quality of the surf isn't affected by the tide. Even when there are waves, it's not likley to be crowded. Take care of rocks in the line up.
