Dunes in North West is an exposed reef break that has consistent surf. Winter is the favoured time of year for surfing here. Offshore winds blow from the east. Most of the surf here comes from groundswells and the ideal swell direction is from the southwest. Reef breaks provide lefts and rights. Best around mid tide. Sometimes crowded. Hazards include rips, rocks and sharks.
