Callala in South Coast - New South Wales is a sheltered reef break. Winter is the optimum time of year for surfing here. Offshore winds blow from the northwest and there is no shelter here from cross shore breezes. Windswells and groundswells in equal measure and the best swell direction is from the south southeast. No reef break here. When the surf is up, it can get quite busy in the water. Beware of urchins, rocks and sharks.
