  This place is a joke for crowds - best bet get your drive on for the south coast, better waves and less hassles or better still give up surfing and go to the pub

  Quality on a good day: 4.0 (1 star: Even when the swell and winds are optimum, the waves are poor quality, 5 stars: If conditions are right, the waves will be World Class).	Consistency of Surf: 1.0 (1: Box Head is a fickle surf spot that only works a few times a year. 5: Reliable year-round spot).
  Regional Rating: 3.0 (1: Box Head is usually very poor quality compared to other spots in New South Wales - Newcastle. 5: the best break in New South Wales - Newcastle).	Difficulty Level: 3.5 (1: Suitable for Groms. 3: Intermediates. 5: Expert tow-in surfers only).
  Onshore Wind: 3.0 (1: even a light onshore ruins the surf. 5: Box Head can offer better rides with a light wind behind them).   Box head is an exceptionally long left sandbar at the entrance to Brisbane Waters. it only breaks a few times a year on large South Swells. A large crew frequent the break whenever it works, and most buddy up with a PWC for quick access back to the peak after each ride. Inside section can be quite hollow on lower tides, but competition for waves is fierce.
