A right reef break located just north of the jetty and close to two good pubs in Ballydavid, on the east side of Smerwick Harbour, not far from Dingle. The pub closest to the break specialises in local seafood.
Ballydavid reef needs a north or north-northwest swell which often happens when a deep low tracks between Iceland and Scotland; a regular occurence in autumn and winter.
Unfortunately, the wave tends to be very wind affected and onshore or cross-shore winds are very common. Glassy days are rare on this SW edge of Europe.
If you do catch it with a solid north swell and light or SE winds, it will be excellent.
