Swell from Hurricane Danielle is now arriving on the coast of NW Europe and for much of France, Britain and Ireland, it is meeting offshore winds. September conditions do not get much better than this. Swell height is around the 1m mark but the period, in the range 15-20 secs, means that exposed breaks are generally well overhead on the well-separated sets. Drop everything and get on it! Should last through the weekend, with the period getting shorter and the wave height growing.

Anglet - L'Ocean in La Cote Basque is an exposed beach/jetty break that has pretty consitent surf and can work at any time of the year. Offshore winds blow from the east with some shelter here from southwest winds. Waves just as likely from local windswells as from distant groundswells and the best swell direction is from the west. The beach break provides left and right handers. Good surf at all stages of the tide. Sometimes crowded.
